Madonna, always in fighting shape, has a round against the British press.
The pop star won a ruling Monday against a British tabloid newspaper accused against their privacy and copyright laws by publishing photos of her wedding, 2000.
Madonna, who says that the photos were stolen by an interior designer from her home in Beverly Hills, California, is seeking damages of more than 5 million pounds (7.5 million U.S. dollars) from the uitgevers of the Mail on Sunday newspaper.
Judge David Eady gebened a ruling in their favor, but deferred a decision on compensation until the new year.
Madonna and director Guy Ritchie, who recently published a preliminary divorce, were married in a Scottish castle on 22 December, 2000.
No photos of the event was published, until it appeared on October 19 in the Mail on Sunday, said Matthew Nicklin, a lawyer deMadonna ten. The newspaper published morethan 11 photographs of the front and a double inside pages.
"She was ambushed, for the simple reason that if the Mail on Sunday had told her what to do, the plaintiffs had sought and obtained a warrant," said Nicklin.
Nicklin, said the newspaper paid 5,000 pounds ($ 7500) for the photos.
Associated Newspapers, publisher of the Mail on Sunday, had no immediate opmerkingUF the decision of the Court.
Nicklin said the only photos of the wedding werden photographer Jean Baptiste Mondino, and Madonna presented as a gift. He said that the Madonna photos in an album in their homeland.
He said that an interior designer, Robert Joseph Wilber, "secretly access to the photo album is copied and at least 26 photos."
These images, which he said had "essentially been stolen by Mr. Wilber" were sold to the Oct. 15 e-Mail on Sunday from a woman who as Bonnie Robinson of Los Angeles, Nicklin said.
Despite the admissions made by the newspaper, Madonna has not issued an apology, Nicklin added.
